The Great British Food Festival – Shugborough Hall
The Great British Food Festival – Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire!!!
On Sunday I decided to say hello to my lobster friends at the Great British food Festival at Shugborough Hall estate near Stafford. I had been told that preparations had gone well all week and that there had been some praying to the sun gods for some warm weather. The praying must have worked as it was a stunning day in a stunning location.
It was a real hive of activity with lots of food producers and street food vendors busy pickling, preserving, baking and packing, jams, cakes, cheeses, pates and lots of other tasty treats!
Walking around I saw free chef demos, foodie talks, man vs food competitions, kids entertainment and live music throughout the day. I was particularly taken by the Chilli eating competition. There were some very brave competitors with the Chillis increasing in pain and spice with each round.
The Chef Demo stage hosts a headline name for each day, with Luke Owen (MasterChef 2014) taking the lead on the main stage.
I was told that there had been entertainment for all the family throughout the weekend, including kid’s cookery lessons, FREE circus skills, free craft workshop, story time and children’s rides and live music from some great local bands so I could do some shopping, grab some food and then have a well-earned relax with a drink (or two)! So I grabbed a Wild Beaver Burger and some Yorkshire Gin, put down the lobster rug and chilled out while I listened to a few bands.
There are still 3 more food festivals this summer located in Cumbria, Warwickshire and Cheshire and to find one near you take a look at the Great British Food Festival website www.greatbritishfoodfestival.com
